Carla Adams’ art practice incorporates sculpture, textiles, craft practices, painting and drawing to navigate the complexities of relationships from an embodied, female perspective.
Boldly coloured forms and materials are cleverly used by the artist, often to examine our digital selves and interactions. Whether this is through dating apps, search engines or social media, she brings these virtual exchanges into the realm of the hand-made with works that exude both humour and pathos.
Carla has exhibited in galleries across Australia and her work is held in important collections including the Cruther’s Collection of Women’s Art, the City of Fremantle Collection, Curtin University Art Collection and the Art Gallery of Western Australia. She was a finalist in the 2023 Ramsay Art Prize at the Art Gallery of South Australia. In 2025, she received the Gerry Gauntlett award at the Minnawarra Art Awards.
